We have been learning to solve division problems.
We know division means to share.
There are 24 feathers and 4 peacocks. How many feathers on each peacock?
Neesha solving the problem |
Isabella sharing the feathers evenly. Oh no there are not enough feathers, what will she do? |
There 32 feathers and 8 peacocks. How many feathers does each peacock have?
There are 36 feathers and 6 peacocks. How many feathers did each peacock have?
36 divided by 6=6 feathers |
George adding up and checking his thinking |
The last part of our challenge was to make the peacocks feathers symmetrical |
Each of the cupcakes had to have the same number of jellybeans on it or it is not fair.
We learnt that if there is some left over that is called a remainder.
Faith's thinking |
Toby's great thinking |
Mya using her addition facts to work out how many will be on each cupcake |
Emma using her 5x to work out how many jellybeans will be on each cupcake. |
Wonderful maths room 8 kiddliwinks!! You look like you are very good at sharing out jellybeans and feathers!
ReplyDeleteWhat great thinking going on in Room 8. I love the way that you show division and multiplication are the opposite of each other.
ReplyDeleteWhat hard thinking mathematicians you are in Room 8. Great perseverance in your problem solving. Thank you for sharing your peacock activity with us. We will be using it for maths in Room 14 next week. Mrs R
