Maths Bugs

We have been learning to add money.
We know we can do this when
*We add the dollars first and then the cents
*We know 100 cents makes $1
*We count in tens to add up eg. 50+20=70
*We use the $ and c symbols to show dollars and cents.

Neesha's bug is worth $7.30c
We made maths bugs out of coins and then added up how much our bugs are worth.

Bella's chrysalis is worth $5.60c  and her butterfly is worth $12.50c
Max's butterfly is worth $13.20c
Caitlyn's 'J' on the swan plant is worth $9.60c
Thomas' bug is worth $6.70c

Adding up coins is a bit tricky. We found it easier when we made piles of $1 and then added on the rest.

Use the coins at home to practice adding.
