Keeping our ears safe

We were so lucky to have Caroline from the Hawkes Bay Hearing Association visit us. She showed us how our ears worked and how to take care of them. We learnt how sound is carried by vibrations and did experiments with tuning forks to see how this works. We used pipecleaners to show us what happens to the hairs in our ears when the vibrations are too big. We all learnt a lot. Watch the trailer for a snapshot of our experience.

Managing our own learning

Room 8 are learning to manage their own learning. They have learning tasks that are 'must do' or 'can do' and decide the order they will complete each part of their learning. They need to manage their time to ensure their work is completed by the end of the week.

*Take our time so our work is our personal best

*Keep trying even when it gets hard

*Put our things away in the right place

*When we finish one piece of learning look on the 'must d'o list for the next thing to do

We will add to this as we practice our managing self skills.

I was very proud of the Kidd-li-winks first week of school. They made a great start to managing their own learning. It is going to be a fantastic year filled with lots and lots of learning. The Kidd-li-winks have also worked really well together. 

When I grow up...

The Kidd-li-winks have been thinking and talking about some of their goals for the year and in the future.

Room 8 have been learning to use the i-pad effectively. We learnt to take photos, email our work and use the app Draw Free.

Dog Tricks
